The latest development in a long-term conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan took place on July 12, 2020. Conflict began the morning of July 12 between Azerbaijan, with the support of Turkey, and the self-proclaimed Republic of Artsakh, with the support of Armenia. Shortly after, both sides introduced marshal law and partial to full military mobilisation. The two groups disagree over the governance of the Nagorno-Karabakh region - which is recognized as part of Azerbaijan in the international sphere but governed by the Republic of Artsakh.
